CNN Reporter Jeanne Moos upset a number of New Zealanders when she poked fun at their culture.

In highlighting that ‘naked tattooed buns greet William and Kate’ and emphasizing that the British Royals were welcomed ‘not by throngs, but a thong’ during their recent visit to New Zealand, CNN slipped from fun to ridicule. Hopefully it was unintentional.

CNN’s Jeanne Moos, known for her lighthearted take on current affairs, went overboard on this occasion.

Moss started her report by saying, "Even the new royal baby arriving on his first official trip abroad couldn't compete with what we're calling the royal bummer. Though technically the only one bumming was the warrior with decorated buns exposed - is that any way to welcome a future king and queen?"

That got the Twitterverse Down under fired up:

She and the channel’s management probably did not realize when fun slipped into the realm of racism and ridicule.

"You can tell there was an attempt at tongue-in-cheek there but someone's culture - an entire nation's culture - is not to be poked fun at really," said Jayden Evett.

Moos did say she was sorry. "Duly noted. I do humor and satire, and I am truly sorry if the tone of my story offended anyone," Moos said.

Now back to the missing plane.
